WOWSC Members,
We would like to apologize for the delay in this month’s water and sewer bills and appreciate your patience during this transition period to a new operator and billing services provider. Several factors contributed to the delay. First, the area experienced multiple days of heavy rainfall, which temporarily delayed portions of the monthly meter-reading process. In addition, our new operator and billing company, Patterson Water Corporation, has been working through and correcting irregular meter-reading practices that had unfortunately occurred under prior operations. In some cases over the past several months, meters were not regularly read, or accounts were average billed, causing inaccuracies in gallons used and customer billing. For this, we sincerely apologize, as that is not how a utility should be operated and is not a practice that will continue under the new operator.
As part of this transition, Patterson Water Corporation is implementing new technology, including GPS-based meter reading, which will allow for more accurate meter readings and billing based on actual water usage. Moving forward, the utility will no longer tolerate inconsistent billing practices, estimated billing without proper verification, or situations where meters are not being regularly read.
While this transition may create temporary inconveniences, these improvements are an important step toward bringing modern utility operations, accountability, and long-term reliability to the system.
As a result of this delay, this month’s water and sewer bill due date has been extended to April 25th.
For many years, portions of the utility’s operations and infrastructure needs were not adequately addressed. Our goal with this transition is to correct those longstanding issues and provide the level of professional utility management and service our customers deserve.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we continue making these improvements.
Thank you,
WOWSC Board of Directors
