WOWSC IRIS Freeze Warning 01172025
January 17, 2025
WINDERMERE OAKS WATER SUPPLY CORPORATION
January 17, 2025
Dear Customer,
The weather forecast for our area calls for inclement weather with temperatures below freezing. The cold front is expected to begin this weekend and continue through the week.
The State’s electric grid will be challenged to meet the needs of all Texans during this cold front so preparation for a possible power outage would be recommended.
Here are a few cold weather tips:
- Locate your water shut off valve and remove debris and obstacles. Any water leaks or broken pipes on the customer’s side will require a licensed plumber.
- Remove garden hoses and wrap exterior pipes and faucets.
- Turn off irrigation systems.
- Cover irrigation back flow valves and piping.
- Cover pool equipment and hot tubs to maintain heat levels.
- Open kitchen and bathroom cabinets to expose the pipes to the warmth.
- Have extra bottled water and non-perishable food on hand.
Below are energy tips to help be prepared in the event of loss of electricity:
- Turn down the thermostats to 68 degrees or slightly lower.
- Know where candles and battery-operated flashlights are and keep them close at hand. Websites to help to keep you informed:
- Refer to the District’s website for any updates at https://wowsc.org.
- Sign up for weather alerts from https://warncentraltexas.org.
- Grid conditions ERCOT website at https://www.ercot.com/
Please be proactive to assure the safest outcome for everyone during this cold weather event. Respectfully,
Windermere Oaks WSC
Note: We discovered last January that not everyone has a customer shut off valve, and some valves do not work. As a reminder, the customer shut off valve is the customer’s responsibility.
Thank you
